This new rig sure looks like a winner! I'm very happy to see that the keyer
is mode A selectable. (I hate the mode B that many rigs offer as their only
iambic mode.)
I have a suggestion for an accessory. It looks like a top cover that would
protect the controls during transport would be *very* useful.
The KX1 write-up mentions that cross-mode CW-SSB contacts are possible. But
I'd assume that the receiver operates in LSB mode only, like the K1. Am I
wrong?
A nice firmware feature would be to have a way to get the unit tuned quickly
to 10/15 MHz for WWV reception of time/STI info, and/or 7.335/14.67 MHz, for
CHU (but CHU would require a USB-mode receiver). That would save a lot of
time and encoder wear.
Also, I wonder if the frequency memories can be used to store a frequency
well outside the ham bands. I can use my DSW-40 (with a lot of dialing) to
copy US Armed Forces Radio (entertainment) broadcasts at 7.507 kHz. But
that also requires that a USB-mode receiver.
I'd love to see the manual available for download after it's completed.
