[Elecraft] K2 RIT-SPLIT LED MOD alternative implementation

K2 reflector readers,
I am reading with interest Tom's (N0SS) implementation of the K2
RIT-SPLIT mod. I prototyped this circuit for Wayne (N6KR) about 18 months
ago, but I did a no-PC-Board implementation. Wayne gave me the circuit
design which is the same one Tom is using and provided me with the
updated firmware (required).

The technique I used did not mount the LED on the front panel; rather, I
mounted the LED between the two front panel boards and then used a fiber
optic light pipe to route the LED light to the front panel. In my case, I
put the fiber optic pipe through the front panel just to the right of the
SPLIT key (it seemed like an obvious place to me).

I am not offering any competition to Tom; I have nothing to offer. I have
some jpeg fotos of my implementation and would be happy to send them as
an email attachment if anyone would care to see them (sorry, I don't have
a web page).
