Thanks John for your endorsement of the MIL program.

Definitely, one should never start out learning CW by any counting
technique.  It indeed places a barrier immediately to speed progression.
Sound and rhythm are the key to mastering the beast.

I dare say that use of headphones is a better way to learn than using a
speaker or being in a room with other sound distraction.  I note that the
old Sig Corps mass classes had headphones for the students; although the
paper strip code machines also were sometimes used with speakers at ham club
classes I attended.
