OK all,

I am now talking the CW learning curve. We have a watered down license
with a 5 wpm requirement and a full license with a 12 wpm requirement.
I have read in more than one place that it is not a good idea to start
out too slowly, as this gives you too much time to think about the
pattern and thus not recognizing purely by sound.

So, the idea is to start at 20wpm, as this is more or less where I want
to be when I start making real QSO's.

Also, my wife is going to do this with me, so we are going to be sending
to each other to learn. In order to have perfectly formed morse to
listen to, I am looking for software that will sound each character as
you type it on the keyboard. This way I can send her a string of
perfect characters to learn from. Obviously we will send using the
paddles as well, but at the moment the greatest difficulty is
recognizing, not sending.

So, please comment on the following:
Speed - Starting at 20wpm
Paddles - as opposed to straight key to start out on
Concentrating more on receiving than sending for a start.
What software would you guys suggest?
And lastly, maybe stupid question, iambic mode A or B?

Thanks
