Here is how I adjust the IF amp and the bandpass filters on receive. First
find peak which is about 1 turn in. If you turn it passed 2 turns you will
hear noise pick up. That's too far. Turn your RF gain control back until a
led just flickers, somewhere in the middle. Now when you fine tune the slug
the peak will appear when the flicker of the led goes out(not solid). This
will give you the highest peak. This works because as you reduce the
sensitivity by reducing the RF gain control the S meter will light more
leds So when you reach your peak the led will go out. Hence the reason to
have a flickering led..
