Dear Rich & Others,

About 15 or 25 years ago it happened that here in Santa Rosa CA that our
only radio store went out of business. We were unable to buy QST, but
more importantly, logs and other materials were also unavailable. The only
recourse was a trip to HRO in Oakland, over 50 miles away, or order direct
from the League.

The League has a little known policy that in such situations ANY merchant
can handle QST Logs etc if the ham community petitions. That's what I
did. I went into Sawyers News Stand and spoke with the owner. He was
willing to help us out and I wrote a petition and took it to the club
meeting. I got 10 signatures and gave it to Larry Sawyer, we then put his
application in the mail. To this day, you can still get League materials
at Sawyers News Stand in Santa Rosa.

Just a thought, be a little pro-active!

This has helped us considerably when running ham classes such as
"Everybody's Talking" etc. Larry has been a great convenience to the hams
in this area over the years.
