Hi Robert, 

Very perceptive! Noone else noticed this.

We don't let the display time out when you're in the menu because the operator
only uses the menu when they're adjusting a parameter. You'd never stay in the
menu for normal operating purposes. Since this is the case, it's better to leave
the display on, so the operator will notice the display and remember to turn the
rig off if they're not using it.

I'll add a note to manual to clarify this.
