"Preferential treatment" is a relative term, and when the government gets involved things may be quite the opposite as they may seem. How much sales tax did you pay on your last Elecraft purchase? If you lived in Los Angeles county, for example, you paid 8.25%. The calculation of tax on a fully-loaded K2 is left as an exercise to the student.
