Hi, Carl:
That's L4A, which is an open-frame inductor with a red plastic frame. =
(See
the picture in the parts list at the top of page 23 of the manual)=20
The outline position for the inductor is shown on the parts layout, =
appendix
A, page 4. Find X1, the crystal, inside the circle. The circle should =
appear
on the board. In the image on Appendix A page 4, L4A mounts near the =
left
side of the circle.=20
I haven't seen the latest versions of the XV222 board silk-screening. I
wrote the manual based on building an XV144, and leaned on the Field =
Testers
for comments about the XV222. Let me know if the outline for X4A is =
missing
on yours. In any case, the appropriate solder pads should be there. X4A =
is a
simple variable inductor with two terminals (it's in the emitter of the
local oscillator on the schematic).=20

I am building an XV222 transverter and have gotten to page 49. There is =
a
red inductor to be mounted at Z6 which I can not find on the board. =
This is
supposed to be near the crystal Y1.=20
Has anyone had this problem or did you find the location for Z6?
Thanks
