Hello Terry,

slightly,

didn't

ITS ALIVE! You're doing fine. You didn't have AGC until U12 was =
installed.
Now the S meter has something to measure. You're mostly hearing the =
noise
generated by Q21, Q22, and the IF amplifier. You also have enough stuff
loaded to receive signals on 40 meters. Nothing will make much sense =
though,
until you finish the calibration steps in Part II. You can adjust CAL S
to fix up the LED meter readings to something more useful.

The weak signal at 7 MHz is cleverly provided by the K2 as a test =
signal.=20

>Maybe the
>K2 doesn't align per the book if it is built with the SSB adapter =
installed
>earlier? But, I could envision a point in the construction manual that
>would say "If you already have it and plan to use it, build and install =
the
>SSB adapter now".

There's just more things that can go wrong with the adapter installed.
This makes it hard to write a good trouble shooting procedure. You will
find instructions to install some of the parts of the SSB adapter while
building the K2 however.

I still haven't built my SSB adapter. I'm still learning how to use =
some
of the neat CW features.
