Wow.  I never would have imagined that the 1000th harmonic of anything=20
would be a significant factor in radio reception.  But you are=20
absolutely right about power line frequency.  It routinely wanders=20
around 60 Hz in more or less random fluctuations lasting from a few=20
seconds to sometimes minutes or hours.  Deviations are typically a few=20
millihertz.  The collection of systems within systems that manage to=20
keep it that close (most of the time) would make Rube Goldberg proud. =20
And then from time to time we deliberately deviate the frequency plus=20
or minus 20 millihertz to keep the clocks on time...
