Hi all,
Today I received a "flyer" from a supplier of components I deal
with, and in amongst the info it contained was an article about "Hazards of
Soldering"
I read it, and felt it may be of interest to some on this Reflector, seeing
as one common factor amongst all of us, is the fact we use lots of solder!
The article referred to a Web
site www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg248.pdf which outlines the hazards of
resin cored solder
the flyer then extolls the virtues of a solder called "Interflux IF14"
solder which is colophony and halide free, and is also no-clean and leaving
little or no flux residue. It is apparently available in 60/40 or the
eutectic 63/37 and it changes instantly from solid to liquid and back at
183 deg C . It is available in .5mm , .7mm, and 1mm diameters in 500g reels.
I have absolutely no idea what this product might be like to use
personally, but it sounds OK, and it looks like it might be available World
Wide.
I enclose this FYI with the usual disclaimer about not having any pecuniary
interest in the product or supplier apart from being a customer.
