Bob,
The INFO 230 message does tell us that the microprocessor is not seeing the
BFO frequency during a CAL FIL. The fact that your K2 is working indicates
that there IS a BFO and a VFO signal present - so the problem lies between
the connections to the probe socket (on the RF board) and the
microprocessor. Unfortunately, DC voltage measurements are not likely to
tell you much. Try the following --

First check your probe - use the menu and enter CAL FCTR, and with the probe
in TP2, do you see the BFO frequency displayed? If so, the probe is working
fine AND the BFO is working fine too, so you should be able to do a CAL FIL
with no problem.

If you do not see the BFO frequency displayed in the step above, put the
probe into TP1 - you should see the VFO frequency displayed. If it is -
then the probe is good - go look for the problem on the RF board in the area
of TP2 (electrical connection area that is - look at the schematic to see
where the connections go) Check the soldering carefully, then check again,
and check again. Make certain that the test probe socket itself is
adequately soldered too.

If you do not see a good frequency display at either point, check your new
probe carefully, and check the soldering for the related components on the
Control Board. If you have access to a 'scope, check along the electrical
pathway from the probe tip until you find where the RF signal no longer
appears - the problem will not be far away from that point. Lastly (but
something to check first), check to be certain that the pins of the probe
are connected to the control board the right way 'round - the shield should
be closest to the side panel.

| I've been off this reflector for a year but I've run into a problem, so
I'm
| back. K2 #922 works just fine, however I'm unable to change the filter
| settings. The dc voltages at pins 10 and 15 check normal. I made up a
new
| test probe and no help. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help is
| always appreciated.
