It is now tuesday, and I have been at it steady since my K2 kit arrived.
That is to say, in 9 days of steady building, I have gotten to the point
of being just ready to wind the coils on the main PCB. Last night I
came up for air. Though I have had classes on Monday, Wednesday and
Thursday nights, virtually all my time has been devoted to building the
K2. However, I also sort of ignored my other homework as well ..so, now
I play catch up. I shall wait until tomorrow to start the coil winding
process... to complete my other homework and to just step back and
relax. I have wound my own coils and inductors for many years while
building my Class D commercial LPFM amps, so I have no qualms about
winding the K2 coils. It feel great to know that in a couple of days
I'll power up the receiver section for the first time. Have to get some
wire to hang out back for my antenna line, my concrete block house with
concrete and rebar filled construction will block just about any signal ...
Reading the Elecraft list and chomping at the bit to get on the air
even if it's just to listen to you guys ... and dream of great fishing
expeditions into the mountains with my K2 rig, my wife and the dog ...
also, have been hitting the general exam guide pretty good ... while
sitting on the throne (flush type) I listen to code tapes, while driving
to school (67 miles one way) I listen to cd's I've made in code ...
can't listen while building since it distracts my concentration ...
trying to "hear words" in code ... some day soon guys, I'll be on the
air. Now to get my wife licensed...heheheh...
73, and may God richly bless all of you ...
