Hi Guys, big breakthrough for me this week-end. First DX ever. K1 #1534, 4W
output on 15m (that means only 2W into my 40m dipole due to long lossy
coax) and worked NE Khazakstan, half dozen East coast USA and two Canadians
in one afternoon. With only 2watts into a wire antenna I'm amazed. Never
thought I would get these sort of results. All but one station copied me
just fine, weak but easily readable. I just love this K1 (xyl getting a bit
jealous so better ease off a bit hi).
CW progress is slow but coming, working on head copy at 12wpm and starting
to keep up with the flow. Reading cw is like riding a conveyor belt, you
keep falling off but you have to practise getting back on as quick as poss,
when I didn't recognise a character instantly I would fall off the belt and
miss the whole word, but now I can get back on fast and only miss 2
letters, it's a matter of 100% concentration on those dits and dahs as they
come out of the tube. I'll get there.
Thanks for the bandwidth.
