The KX1 provides tuning rates of 10 Hz, 100 Hz, and 1 kHz (or 5 kHz in USB or
LSB RX modes). You tap or hold the VFO knob itself to select the rate.
The display format and decimal point changes with the tuning rate. Suppose your
operating frequency is 7023.45 kHz:
- with 1 kHz or 5 kHz steps selected, you'll see "023"
(or "023." if RIT is turned on)
- with 100 Hz steps (default), you'll see "23.4"
- with 10 Hz steps, you'll see "3.45"
You can also at any time tap BAND to see the MHz and kHz, in this case:
"7" then "023", and back to your selected display format
If RIT is turned on, the decimal point flashes.
If you select USB or LSB receive mode rather than the default (CW, or "normal"
mode), tapping BAND also adds a character ahead of the MHz digit, e.g. with LSB selected:
"L 7", then "023", then back to the selected format
If you have S-meter mode turned on, the S-meter bargraph indication will be
shown as long as you're not turning the VFO knob. As soon as you turn it, the
frequency display reappears and remains until you stop moving the knob for a few
seconds. It then goes back to bargraph mode.
