[Elecraft] Noise Blanker K2

It takes fairly steep rise-time noise pulses to trigger the blanker. It
should do a GREAT job on ignition noise and those &%@@#! cheap lamp =
dimmers.

However, sometimes they are too low in level to trigger the blanker, =
even in
"low threshold" mode. Switching the NB on and off and changing =
thresholds
does nothing at all. The buzz still blasts my ears.=20

In that case I find that turning on the preamp (which I never use below =
14
MHz otherwise) makes the noise "disappear" as the level comes up enough =
for
the blanker to do its thing.=20

This has come up before and spawned a rather interesting but l-o-n-g =
thread
(lasting a couple of weeks I think) about how noise blankers and =
limiters
have been tested for half a century. What I got out of it all is that, =
like
S-meters, the results and what is considered "normal" is VERY subjective
<G>.=20
