The LM386 gain is adjustable from about 20 to 200 by connecting a resistor
in series with a capacitor between pins 1 and 8. Maximum gain is obtained
when only a capacitor of about 10 uf is connected across the pins. That's
the way it's already wired in the KX1, so I'm afraid there's nothing more
available at that point in the circuit.
