[Elecraft] How to measure keyed waveform

Larry,
I would use a (properly compensated) 10x 'scope probe connected across my
dummy load rather than connecting coax to the scope. The dummy load
presents a proper load to the transmitter and the low capacity probe does
not upset that relationship.

You could trigger the 'scope from the negative-going edge of the keying line
(just connect from the dot side of the paddle if you are using the dot
paddle to produce a reoccuring sequence) so you can stretch out the time
base to view the beginning of the RF output easily, or you could simply
trigger the 'scope from the input RF waveform. If you chose the latter, you
may have to set the time base to view 2 RF 'bursts' in order to examine the
first part of the waveforms rising edge. Some 'scopes trigger from the
vertical inputs better than others, and you did not say what kind of 'scope
you are using.
