I really didn't remember what my KX1 did when I built it so I just =
hooked it
up to the service monitor this AM to just to see if it's close to =
everyone
else. First off I have to say....whether you get 4 watts or 3 watts =
really
doesn't make too much difference it's the power out when running =
portable
with alkalines of the like. There the difference between 1.5 and .75 =
watts
is a significant difference of 3dB. However I would be more worried =
about
the current draw and efficiency of the unit in portable operation. =
Here's
the numbers that mine comes out to be and I also measured the current =
and
power usage and am very happy with it. I'm not going to screw around =
with
it to get an extra .4 watts on 13.6 volts or an extra .1 watts on =
alkalines,
I extremely happy the way it is.
Band 13.8volts fresh alkalines
40 meters 3.76 watts 1.15 watts
30 meters 3.62 watts 1.14 watts
20 meters 2.97 watts 0.99 watts
So for me this is great, besides I really spend more time on 30 and 40 =
than
on 20...and this weekend with the contest I'm only on 30. I did cheat =
and
made a bunch of contacts in the contest on 20...but I hooked it up to =
the
13.8 volt supply and feed my KT34B at 52feet....so not quite portable. =
I
enjoy listening in stereo with both the KX1 and K2 running on the same
freq.....they both sound great.
73 gang and just enjoy.....if it isn't 3dB difference you really won't =
be
noticing a difference.
