Dave:
I am basing my comments on the Rev E manual. The errata sheet doesn't
mention the backlight assembly at all and I didn't get an "addendum".
If you did get one, some of my info might be out of date.

The 2 LEDs are built-in to the ends of the diffuser. That's what those
4 wires go to.

No! Page 25, column 1, 3rd instruction from the bottom: "DO NOT REMOVE
THE BACKING FROM EITHER SIDE OF THE DIFFUSER". The backings are what
makes the diffuser a diffuser. Otherwise it would be clear plastic.
There was some confusion on the LCD panel. Many did not come with
protective plastic film on the back. The film on the front is hard to
see, but it is there and should be kept there until you are told to
remove it (to protect the optical quality of the front). If your
addendum says something different, then I can't help you on this topic.
I didn't get an addendum.
>I only have two stick-on spacers and the diagram shows four (4) ?? If I had four, these would be applied to the board first, then the LCD would butt against these, then the diffuser would be installed with direct contact to the LCD, yes?

The spacers are NOT stick-on spacers. They were part of the switch
spacing tool (page 21).

Hang in there...

They are integral to the diffuser, as noted above. The drawings on
pages 25 and 26 pretty much show you how to do it.
73's and good luck.
