Have you considered LiPo batteries? (Lithium Polymer)

I've just ordered 4 LiPo batteries (rated for 2200 mAh, 3.7 V). These things
are only $15 each(batteriesamerica.com, click R/C Hobby, locate Polymer) and
should keep my electric airplane airborne 8 times the duration of NiCads.

They are VERY light, too. 45 grams each. The manufacturer recommends 7 Amp
or less discharge, so you should be good to go on transmit too. I'll be
pulling 12 Amps for max power (Kills my NiCads in 3 minutes!). The batteries
get quite hot during a run<g>.

Batteries are 62 x 70 x 6 mm small. If you can think of an easy operating
test for me to perform, I can hook up three to my K2 before I deploy them
into my Zagi (www.zagi.com). If weight isn't an issue, then the NiMh might
be OK. Check with someone who has used them.
