[Elecraft] two application running via KIO ??

There is no solution to this problem that I know of, Dick. Technically, I
think it would be possible to do it (by writing a bit of software that
created two virtual serial ports so that each application thinks it has
sole control of the radio) but it would be very difficult to do.

I have wanted to be able to use two programs at the same time myself, and
was frustrated that amateur radio software authors felt that you would only
want to use their software. When I first started to work on K2Net, the name
of the program was Remote Radio, and my idea was to design a client/server
application where one or more applications could talk to the server using
TCP/IP and a rig-independent control language, and only the server would
talk to the radio. This gave me an insight into the problems involved, with
the result that K2Net ended up being K2-specific.

I still think it would be possible to develop something along the lines of
my original idea, but it would not be a trivial development, and for it to
be anu use at all it would require the application developers to support
this new interface. I don't have the time to pursue the idea on a freeware
basis, so if anyone wants to have a go, they are welcome to do so.

I like to run two applications on the PC simultaneously that communicate
with my K2 / KIO interface.
One is Hamradio Deluxe and the other is N3FJP's logging program.
However, I can just run one program at the time. If I try to start up
the next application I get an error message that my COM port is already
in use. Is there a way to solve this, with some kind of software trick,
to run both applications, using the same com port?
Thanks!
