[Elecraft] rugged side panels that combine K2/100 and ATU

Also, another question:
=20
Is the spacing between the K2/200 and KAT100-1 crucial? I could imagine =
not
having the rubber feet on the K2 and that way to be able to get the =
total
height of this K2/100/KAT100-1 down =BC=92=92 or so. I know that the =
KAT100=92s top
cover is actually steel instead of aluminum, so electrical interaction
should not be an issue even if there are a little closer, should it?

Hi,
=20
=20
=20
I did some initial experiments with the K2/100 mobile and would love to
include the ATU100 as well. I did some different experiments with =
different
mounting techniques. As it stands now, I would like to do the following:
=20
=20
=20
1. Combine the K2/100 and the ATU by making custom side panels that
reach across both devices.=20
2. Add a handle on each side for easier carrying, similar to this:

3. I also want to position the K2 vertically, so I am thinking of
making the side panels 2" longer in the back. That way it could stand up =
and
the cables in the back are clear.=20
4. Use the handle on one side to "mount" this to the car.=20
=20
=20
=20
Couple of questions:
=20
=20
=20
1. Does anyone have comments on this "design"?=20
2. Where can I buy handles similar to the ones in the picture?=20
3. What kind of sheet metal is preferable? Material and thickness? =
4. Are the existing 2-D fasteners enough or should I add a couple =
more?
=20
5. where can I get the color that matches the K2's?=20
=20
=20
=20
Thanks for any input.
