I also have done the KI6WX 2.5khz mod.  The result has almost no
ripple in the passband compared with the original.  When I first set
the Cal Fil I tried to put the passband more toward the low end and
this didn't work well. When I set it up with the markers at 300 and
2800 it worked well. =20

I also did John's Increased Gain Modification to increase gain 10db
but it didn't improve the output on 10 meters until I also did the
Reduced Intermodulation Distortion Modification as well. Then it
worked great.

It's a little hard to get those caps off the board down between the
crystals but I clamped a hemostat on the cap and with the board in a
Panavise I pulled down with the hemostat while heating the holes.
Sometimes it's hard to get the solder out of the holes even with
solderwick. I then clamp a sewing needle in a hemostat and place tip
of the needle in the depression of the hole from the bottom.  Having a
third hand to tighten down the Panavise on the board helps.  Then I
heat the hole from the top and push the needle through. The solder
doesn't stick to the needle if you wiggle or turn the needle.
