[Elecraft] KRC-2 Needed for BPF Array

You will need the KRC-2 to properly use the ICE bandpass filters (BPFs). The
K2's band indication output is unique, so nobody else makes a compatible
interface.
Do you ***really*** want to trust your PC for BPF control? A momentary PC
glitch or a lockup/freeze could mean the destruction of your receiver front
end. The confuzer isn't exactly the most reliable part of one's station,
after all.
Its also nice being able to have a QSO or two with the noise monster (PC)
turned off...
FWIW, I've had a setup similar to yours (1000MP to DuneStar 600 with
homebrew interface) and K2/100 to ICE 419 via KRC-2 in a SO2R (both with
full-power amps) station for about six months without any problems. I don't
use any of the higher functionality built into the KRC-2 myself, but its BPF
control functionality alone is worth its price. Easy to build, too.
