FWIW, KX1 output numbers off I OHR WM-2 Meter-

With 13.66V input

3.5 W - 20M
4.3 W - 30M
3.8 W - 40M

I had 3.0 on 20M until I spread the turns on L2, which resulted in an
increase to 3.3 Watts.

Also found that power out went up from 3.3 to 3.5 W after I installed the
30M module. Interesting.

Best,

Subject: [Elecraft] KX-1 Low Output

My Bad. It seems it's pretty tricky to make a really trustworthy wattmeter.
I knew I'd calibrated the full scale readings on my Oak Hills WM-2 pretty
carefully but I didn't notice or had forgotten that it is about a dB low at
the lower end of each scale. I plugged my KX-1 onto an HP 8563 spectrum
analyzer and measured 3.8 watts on 40 and 30 and 3.2 watts on 20 all at 13.5
vdc. These are numbers I'm quite happy with. Last night I installed the 30
meter and tuner modules. That sure did kick up the 60 meter sensitivity and
the tuner always seems to match the suggested 24 ft. wires perfectly. Sorry
I cried wolf about power problems but it's pretty interesting that no one
came back and said they had a similar problem. I think the design must be
pretty solid.
