Hi Don,
Though your comment wasn't directed my way I was wondering if there was
a way to accomplish this!
I am just underway with the KX1 build, and just finished my K2. Is there
a way to do this with the K2? 
I don't think the rest of the world is ready to experience my CW yet,
even through a dummy load :-).

In the woodwork learning from you guys.

Hi

You can put the KX1 into test mode so the power out is 0. Your batteries
will last a lot longer not needing to heat the dummy load. Just go into
the menu and locate PLY then tap the VFO knob and this sets the power
out to P=0. Then you can use the KX1 for code practice without the need
for the dummy load or the power drain from the battery. To put it back
to normal just repeat the steps above tapping the VFO knob will toggle
it on and off.
