I brought the KX1 into work today. I connected a 42-foot wire to the
BNC-to-Posts adaptor (from N7CEE). It ran across a table for 10 feet and
then over to a cabinet on the other side of the room. It was only a few
feet off the floor. I connected a 32-foot counterpoise, stretched out on the
floor in the other direction, to the other post. The ATU was happy with
what it saw on 40m and matched to 1 to 1. I had a nice QSO with W2YQV a few
hundred miles away near Syracuse, NY. He gave me a solid 579. He was using
a Heathkit DX-60B and a Hammarlund HQ-100 and sounded very clean and stable.

It was very satisfying to get out well with a piece of wire inside a
building using a rig in a 3" x 5" box.
