Many good comments... but I didn't see this reminder...

Don't un-tape the resistors.  They are in installation sequence in the 
tape "string" (once you've identified the correct end).  I also 
rationalized that the tape string was computer generated, and therefore 
was highly likely to contain all the right parts, and therefore a detailed 
inventory was not needed.  (I did double check all values at 
insertion/solder time however!)

I've also used the foam egg cartons, when I ran out of muffin tin space, 
for sorting passive components.
