I am unimpressed with Heil's  products

I have had excellent results with a home made mic using an electret 
condenser element out of my junk box (or around $3 if you have to buy a new 
one)  and a simple audio tailoring circuit based on the one that Icom use 
in their handmics (this diagram can be found in the manuals for various 
ICOM HF radios ) Audio reports with the K2 and the pro2 are excellent.

My Mic is mounted on a pair of Beyerdynamic D109 headphones (same as the 
D110 but with a boom)
