Brendan,
I *absolutely* agree with your statement about fusing the negative when
connected directly to the battery. That's among many of the reasons why I don't
connect there. Please note from my original post....
"battery chassis ground with a #10 BLACK lead."
I go to the chassis ground point, not the battery. No slop here.
I entirely agree with Gregg's point #2 and the reasoning/science behind it.
I will admit I hadn't considered having the ground lead tied to the chassis
closer to the radio. I like the reasoning but have only one reservation. I
would want to be sure that there is good chassis bonding from the chassis where
the battery ground is to the chassis section where I'll be establishing my
ground.
