Since the switch is in series with the connection between the K2 and
the battery, it won't charge if the switch is open.
The instructions recommend 13.7 +/- 0.2 volts as measured on the front
panel LCD (14.0 +/- 0.2 volts at the power jack).
If you remove the external power and measure the voltage with the LCD
meter, you will get a rough indication of the state of charging.
