I live on a ridge top above Aptos ... at 2600'.  This ridge rises to a peak
of 3400' and there are several areas above 3000' here in the Santa Cruz
Mountains.  Your ft-meters conversion is backwards.  1500 ft is 457 meters,
not 4500 meters.

True.  It's like a different world up here.  The people sort of self-select
and are more akin to what you find in the rural Midwest, not Silicon Valley.

I agree with this conversion!

This is not common, but possible.  This year, we've had 50 inches of rain,
which is more typical.

It takes much less than this for PG&E to be inept at restoring power for a
week around here.  Many of us have home supply generators as a result.

There are cliffs, but there are also miles of gentle slopes to the beaches
as well.
