As you discovered, the beta and decay values apply to all four nr levels.
They also apply for cw and ssb.  This is also why the menu is labeled "nr"
rather "n1", "n2" etc.

I use the default values.  I can't recommend any particular values, since
noise conditions, signals and individual tastes account for so much.
