[Elecraft] K2 very susceptible to motor noise/magnetic field?

All,

I just flipped on my K2 a few minutes ago and was greeted with something
I had not heard before.  All the users had a sustained waver in their
voices - exactly like they were talking into a fan.  Then I realized
that I my desktop fan (which I had recently relocated about 1' from the
radio) was turned on.  Turned off the fan and the audio cleared right
up.  This is on 3875,  all the stations are quite QRO, so this is strong
interference.

My FT-1000, which is about the same distance away, does not exhibit this
interference.  So is this just a case of better shielding on the Mark-V,
or does it indicate an issue with my K2?  It is hardly a big deal, since
I can just move the fan and be done with it, I just want to make sure it
does not indicate some sort of technical problem.
