[Elecraft] possible K2 T/R Problem?

Thanks, Fran. This one is about s/n 2500, so I am not sure that
applies. I'm in the stage of assembly where I need to adjust the
bandpass filters, which requires listening to the "rushing sound" of the
receiver's background noise. It acts like the mute circuit may be stuck
in "mute" and can only be cycled off by a quick change to xmit, which I
do by sending one dit. Once I do that, the rushing sound is there, it
responds to the AF and RF gain controls, as you might expect. However
any button pushes or knob turns, and it goes back to mute. But --- the
Mute Not signal doesn't seem to change voltage regardless of whether the
rcvr seems to be "working" or not. That makes me think it is in the T/R
circuitry. Cannot find a bad connection or a solder bridge or anything
obvious.
Thanks for the response. My inquiry has met with only 2 responses so
far. Maybe everybody is in Dayton! 73, Brian

Brian,
I hope that I am not the first to answer your query, but I did no see
anything ln the list so I figured that you deserved some help. I did
not
look over your numbers, just your descriptions.
You did not give your serial number or say if you are using an antenna,
dummy load, random wire or nothing.
What i have as an idea is that the AGC might be pinned. If you have
serial
number >3000 then the pot that controls this may be set full the wrong
way.
Best bet would be to try turning is off from the front panel to
eliminate
that as an issue.
Beyond that you are out of my league.
