Thirty meters is one of my favorite bands and I've seldom had trouble
scaring up a QSO. My antenna is a simple half-wave "inverted L" end fed =
wire
up about 25 feet at the bend.=20
Of course, cdx have been LOUSY lately, which is not uncommon for this =
point
in the solar cycle. That's not a sign of what's to come, but a common
temporary effect of being on early part of the cycle downslope.=20
Historically 40 and 20 have been great bands for DX and rag chews around =
the
clock, with 20 providing DX in the daytime and 40 taking over in the =
night
and early-morning hours. Thirty meters is an interesting blend of the =
two,
often still open to DX when 20 closes and frequently open for daytime =
short
skip when solar activity gets a bit too intense for 40.=20
And 30 meters gets downright busy during big contests with lots of
non-contesting "refugees" ducking the wall-to-wall QRM on the other =
bands.
