I was on 30m on Wed evening, and heard quite a bit of activity surrounding one
DX station, in addition to several other stations. I worked one station near
Dayton who was running 5W to a gutter (I was running 5W to a Buddipole in OKC).
I also heard a strong 4X station.
We could decide on one evening each week for a 30m net that traveled westward
from timezone to timezone (7-8 o'clock local time: 2300z - 0300z). How about
10112 kHz +/- 1 kHz?
It would be ideal if there was an operator from each time zone who would
volunteer his 100W station with full size antenna to hold the frequency for one
hour and collect check-ins and enable operators to make contact with other
stations to collect serial numbers for CC and WAS.
OR ... we could just all agree to meet each Friday night from 0000-0400z (with
or without an NCS) on 10112 +/- 1.
Now here's another idea - we could run a net, and give each check in 5 minutes
to make as many contacts as he could muster - calling on one frequency, and
having everyone else respond up 1 kHz. In fact - the only stations operating on
the calling frequency are NCS and the 'lucky' station. It would give everyone a
chance to feel like a DX station as they try to pull out weak and crowded
signals. No aid given - exchange RST, State/Province/Country, and Elecraft
serial number.
-----
As for me, weather permitting, I will be on 30m (either 10.108+/-, or
10.112+/-) from 7-8 (0000-0100z) this evening from Stars and Stripes Park in
Oklahoma City.
