A great contest for that is the NA QSO party, where the multipliers are 
band/states.  Work a state on five bands and get five multipliers.  I have 
fond memories when I was working on 5BWAS and running on 80 meters (I 
believe it was), having a ND station come back to me and getting him to QSY 
first to 40 and then to 160.

In a slow contest you can get a lot of extra QSOs just by asking a station 
to QSY for you.
