It would be a good idea, I think, and good practice. Years ago I gave up
suggesting that we move off of 14060 or 7040 after hooking up with a CW =
QRP
station, or even that we QSY when we're in the middle of a QSO and an
"alligator" station (all mouth and no ears) opens up on top of us who
clearly doesn't hear us.=20
Other stations often seem "rooted" to the frequency that they are on,
thinking it bizarre that once communications is established that we =
might
QSY for ANY reason! =20
The ability to shift frequency a bit when it would help communications =
is an
important operating skill, and one worth encouraging. Why shouldn't a =
great
rig like the K1 or K2 have a great op at the controls as well?=20
With the K-rigs, it's not like the old days when we were guessing that =
the
frequency we were on, guessing at the frequency we think is clear that =
we
might shift to, and then facing the need to retune separate transmitters =
and
receivers on the new spot.=20

Yes, I do have a thought - that Calling frequencies (QRP or otherwise)
should be just that - a calling frequency. In my mind after contact is
established, any QSO should move off the calling frequency - so I =
especially
have a problem with a net being organized on a calling frequency. Using =
a
frequency somewhat removed (at least 3 kHz for SSB) from the calling
frequency would be the polite thing to do. 73, Don W3FPR
