Really!  Be careful with what you say people.  Remember the rule of thumb:
don't
say anything in email that you wouldn't say to the person's face.  I could
be wrong
but I don't think this conversation would have gone the way it did if people
had
been talking face-to-face...

Now for my two cents for the contest v. award question...

Seems to me to be an award, not even a shade of gray to it.  Here's my
responses
to the arguments people have posted:

1.  Runs for a limited time period.  ARRL has done this with the DXCC and
WAS
awards.  There are awards from other organizations that are time limited as
well.

2.  Awards the top three.  Sounds like the DXCC top of the honor roll except
they're honoring the top three places instead of just first place.
Remember, they're
also giving awards to anyone who makes simple DXCC.

Ok, I'm off the soap box now and won't be responding to anything further on
this thread.
