[Elecraft] alc requirement

Hi folks,

Too much importance is placed on the need
for alc feedback from the amp to the exciter.
You are far better off to load the amp to the
limit, and then back off on the rf output from
the exciter. The amp runs linear (i.e. clean)
that way.

Neither the Ten Tec Omni V nor the Paragon
have an ALC input from an amplifier, even though
the Ten Tec Titan does have an alc output. It is
not hard to get 2500 watts OUT of the Titan
when driving it with either one of those two rigs.

When using the K2/100 as the exciter for a high
power amp, do it the same way that Ten Tec
does it. Forget about the ALC feedback, just
keep your drive under control.

John, NP2B
