[Elecraft] The saga of K1 #583

I have 2 questions and a comment on my K1.

Question 1 - Is it normal to get some signal bypassing the filter on very strong signals?
                     Here I emphasize "strong" signals.

Question 2 - Which 10 turn pot. is the best replacement for the stock one? Mine is now
jumping in frequency if the shaft is moved up or down. I noticed some
signals were shifting and found the shaft movement had something to do
with it. I looked through the archives and several replacements were listed.

Comment - This morning I worked KH6 to complete Worked all Continents on 40 meters.
This also put me at 59 countries worked since last October all CW QRP on 40
                   meters.

I built the K1 as a replacement for the long used HW8. That was a good choice
and as the totals show, a great improvement.

At this point I may try for DXCC on 40 with my K1. I am only a casual operator
and only on the air several days a month. I think with a few contests I should be

able to achieve this goal. ( and maybe with a 3 element yagi too )

This rig has been a whole new lease on ham radio for me. It was interesting to
build and is fun to use. It seems to be a good balance between power, function
and
cost. Each new country has been a thrill. I have to thank everyone at Elecraft
for
                   products without equal.
