[Elecraft] Transverter & Satellite work questions?

Hello all, I too am excited about the transverters being presented for us to
go building again!!! But if I may I'd like to fall back to a question from
way back. As always I keep trying to figure a way to incorporate the K2
into satellite work. From what little I know about the K2 (other than
building one) it appears that the K2 can only receive and transmit with one
freq or on the same band at once. There is no way to run full duplex as you
would need for sat work.
BUT ... At present one can take the K2 and add the 2m transverter and then
add their 2.4 GHz downconverter (whether it is a UEK-3000 or a AIDC 3731 or
whatever) for AO-40 receive operation. I am Really curious to try that
setup. Maybe by the time AO-40 gets back into a better squint angle and such
I'll have some of this built to test it there. Now stick with me on this
one. WHEN Elecraft puts the 440 Transverter out for us that could give more
flexibility. Let's assume you won the lottery and had TWO K2's. We would
have one for the 2m Transverter and one for the 440 transverter.
Technically we could work a few satellites with the two radios. But we still
have the full duplex operation to overcome. You could in theory work just
about any of the Sats in SSB mode with K2's. But let's try to make it
easier.
NOW for the biggie question - Would there be ANY hope of tying the two K2's
together with their transverters and have them where they will be able to do
normal tracking and inverting tracking with the two radios for sat work.
Will the KRC2 be able to do this with the right software? Basically a way to
tie the two radios together so that the freq will track normal or inverting
as it should between the two radios. I know this would not be the most
efficient way to do this but is it possible. Just think about this a minute.
Might not be the cheapest way to do it but what would it be like to build
your own Satellite capable radio! The parts are there but can we tie them
together somehow so we could seek full duplex operation between two K2's
with tracking. Is there hope of getting these two to track? Of course then
maybe someone could come up with software to help with the tracking for the
two radios (Such as W6IHG radio tuner software)? Am I """WAY""" out in left
field here? I am not an engineer or of the such and I'm sure I've
overlooked some giant caveat? So be kind in your answers for where I may
shown my ignorance. But I've got to know!?
Thanks & 73,
Rick Tilton
