I'm thinking about giving one of these programs a try.

I've just recently (about two weeks ago) discontinued my [email protected],
it was generating a ton of spam.

ALWAYS but ALWAYS write your address as "[email protected]" and be sure
your call appears someplace in the message. Another possibility is to use
an html address with lots of obfuscation like
http://www.radions.net/spamfltr.htm it will give more protection. When
arrl.net fills up with spam, dump it & go to qsl.net - when that fills up,
go back to arrl.net - it's not such a big leap and the fellows should be
able to figure it out.

These are my anti-spam measures.
