Hi Larry,

Ok on the set of plans route. But may I try to spark an interest in a used
Heathkit?? I don't want to push the Heathkit route too much, but just as an
example, I just won a bid on UK Ebay for an HW101 with mic, PSU and some
other bits for 77 UK pounds (about USD 120).

Now a HW101 is probably overkill for you, but there many other Heathkit CW
type rigs on Ebay that might be just up your street and of course a lower
cost - and models have switchable Xtal control vs VFO.

There is TONS of internet-based support for Heathkit, and if you've built a
K1 or K2, then you've developed many of the skills needed to debug a
below-spec Heathkit. And like the K1 and K2, you'll get a great sense of
pride once the dammn thing finally works properly!

Perhaps you've guessed that I'm a Heathkit fan, well it's true. Perhaps one
day, we can persuade Elecraft to design an all-tube K2. Now I bet that will
sell!

Tony
