Well like I said I bought the Diamond Trunk Lip Mount (K400-3/8C) and =
installed it. Fits very nice and snug (I didn't use the Protection =
Plate because I wanted a good ground), and doesn't look too bad. It =
seems stable enough with the style of antenna I bought. I bought 2 Iron =
Horse HF antennas...one for 17mtrs. and one for 40 mtrs. Both tuned up =
easily, these are the type with a lower fiberglass section with a =
winding on it and then an adjustable rod for the top. Total length =
around 6 or 7 feet. Interesting enough with the KAT100 in line, between =
the 2 antennas I can load on 75, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, and 10. All =
with less than 1.3 to 1...except 75 mtrs. which is about 1.8 to 1. =
Still all in all not too bad. As far as power goes...I had it easy. I =
had stock of power cord for Johnson Land Mobile radios....yep they use =
the same high current connector as does the KPA100 so I just grabbed one =
off the shelf and hooked it up....but it gets easier. The Olds Aurora I =
drive has a V-8 and there is no room under the hood for a battery...it =
is under the rear seat....pop the seat and plug into the master buss box =
with a large spade and run the neg. cable to the frame ground for the =
battery. Nice clean power. I'll probably be around Thursday late =
morning (Central Standard Time GMT minus 6) on 17 meters....look for me =
as I head North to the Lake Cottage.
