[Elecraft] EQP ideas

Hello all,

In terms of EQP Ideas, aka possible rule changes for next time, several
suggestions have focused on making the EQP more like other contests.
However, the K2 is different than other rigs, so the contest can be
different than other contests.

For example, some ops have asked for a points multiplier for SPC, as in
other contests. A "different than other contests" suggestion is for a
points multiplier for something like individual rig serial numbers per mode
per band. While it's been noted that this latter idea would be too
complicated, since it's probably relatively easy to revise the logging
software to include a dupe/counter feature based on serial numbers & bands
(& even modes as well), I guess I'd say, let's be unique & do it that way.
It encourages EQP QSOs rather than either total QSOs or SPC QSOs.

Similarly, one of this year's contest goals is "QSOs are encouraged." (I'm
assuming that "QSOs are encouraged" means that LONGER QSOs are
encouraged--more than normal sub-minute contest exchange.) As it stands,
there is no incentive in terms of scoring for us to chat with each other. If
the scoring is revised so that the longer your QSO is, the more points you
get, then we would have an incentive to mention things like when we got the
rig, what options we've installed, what mic we're using, etc.

Personally, I would rather not see the contest go beyond 24 hrs. Whether
those are mostly on Saturday or Sunday doesn't make much difference-whatever
is most convenient to most ops. But going beyond 24 hrs. will make it less
appealing to ops who can only compete part of the time. Basically, if I can
only join the EQP for 10 hrs, I'm more likely to do it if that's 10 hours
out of 24 hours maximum rather than 10 out of 36 or 48 maximum. (Personally,
I'd vote with the idea of any 10 or 12 or 15 hours from within a 24 hr
period.)

Yes to HF (non-WARC) only & yes to any possible mode.
