[Elecraft] EC2 and KPA100 question

Eddy;

I just finished building the K2 and the KPA100. The other "benefit" of
keeping them separate is that you can keep the frequency counter on the
BFO test point, which means you can fool with the filters. However, I
have to say that swapping out the regular lid for the KPA100 unit is not
that much of a pain -- about a two minute operation worst case.

I spent about two hours last night fooling with the "R" filters (digital
filters) and I'm pretty happy with the way that they came out. Now that
the filter setups are all basically done, I think I'm just going to keep
the PA unit installed; it has the serial port in it, and the unit only
draws an additional 150 or so milliamps.

It helped yesterday during EQP -- there were a few stations where they
just weren't getting my SN (well, my keying was REALLY bad [as Eric can
attest to], but...) cranking the power to 60 watts for that part of the
QSO usually resolved the problem!

I've heard about but am yet to really observe and "observable" drift
issue; it certainly hasn't busted a QSO.
